Exceptional Chiropractor In Redondo Beach

Chiropractic is more than just a solution for back pain, it’s key to a healthy lifestyle.

Chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between structure (the spine) and biomechanical function ( joint movement) which is coordinated by the nervous system and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system (brain and spinal cord) controls the function of every cell, tissue, and organ of your body.

Your spinal column, made up of 24 independent vertebrae, is what allows your body to move, twist, and bend through every motion of your busy day. It also encases and helps protect the delicate central nervous system that controls and coordinates every muscle, tissue and organ of the body. This is why we believe the first step to an active lifestyle is a properly functioning spine.

When two or more vertebrae aren’t functioning together properly, it is what many chiropractors refer to as a subluxation or a misalignment. These subluxations are actually joint dysfunctions that can cause you to experience pain, discomfort, decreased mobility, or many other symptoms and conditions. Joint dysfunctions often go unnoticed and can cause miscommunication between your brain and body.

Joint Dysfunctions in the spine may eventually lead to symptoms in other parts or joints of the body as well. These symptoms are your body’s only way of letting you know something is wrong. Unfortunately, the absence of pain is not an indication of health. By the time pain and symptoms appear the problem may have been present for months, even years. The great news is that you can help prevent these types of symptoms and conditions with routine chiropractic care.

Many people visit a chiropractor because they are in pain, have poor posture, seeking injury prevention or pain relief. Our ultimate goal focuses on educating you on the way to maintain your health naturally to help your body resist disease, rather than simply treating the symptoms of disease, so you in turn can educate others.

What should I expect after the chiropractic care?

Whether you are familiar with chiropractic care or this is your first time, you can expect to feel new and rejuvenated from any healthcare experience you’ve had before. Perhaps even life-changing.

During your first visit, your chiropractor will explain how joint dysfunctions may occur on your body, how a chiropractic adjustment is used to correct them, and the many benefits chiropractic has to offer. If you’ve never been adjusted before, this is a great way to have some of your questions answered by a knowledgeable licensed Doctor of Chiropractic, so you know exactly what to expect. The doctor will answer any questions or concerns you may have prior to initiating treatment.

Are all people given the same type care?

In actuality, there are three stages of chiropractic care:

Relief — If you are experiencing aches, pains and or decreased range of motion, our licensed chiropractors will work to identify the source of the issue and eliminate joint restrictions, also known as subluxations. Subluxations can get in the way of proper nerve communication from the brain to the body–often resulting in pain and discomfort.

While seeking relief, your doctor may recommend multiple visits per week, for two to four weeks, or until the pain is reduced. Your doctor will likely also recommend home therapies such as icing and/or stretching at home.

Recovery — Just because pain and discomfort begin to subside doesn’t mean you should stop receiving care. Muscle and other soft tissue damage may still be present even though the symptoms of pain are gone. Recovery care works to support the body’s ability to heal itself by maintaining proper communication throughout the entire body.

During recovery, your doctor may recommend visiting one to two times per week as well as performing strengthening exercises at home.

Wellness — You’ve heard the phrase “no pain, no gain,” right? Well, chiropractic is a little different. Even when you are not experiencing pain or discomfort, you can gain from routine care. While routine chiropractic can help improve health and well-being; it can also serve as an early detection system for new problems.

Once you’ve found relief and have fully recovered, your doctor will typically recommend maintenance visits along with a balanced diet and exercise regimen.

What should I wear?

You will remain fully clothed for the duration of your visit, so we recommend you wear non- restrictive clothing to make it easier to rest comfortably while lying down on the table. A portion of your adjustment may be performed while you are face down, while other adjustments may be delivered while you are either on your side, sitting upright or lying on your back.

What is the Popping Noise when an Adjustment is Delivered?

The popping sounds you heard are your joints releasing tiny pockets of gases. A chiropractic adjustment does not affect the bones of either side of the joint, but rather the connective tissue that holds the joint together.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe?

Chiropractic is the largest, non-invasive, drugless and safest form of health care available. Statistically, patient risk is substantially lower when receiving chiropractic care as opposed to medical care, where the use of prescription drugs and surgery pose a greater risk.

Does Chiropractic Care Hurt?

Chiropractic adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment.

Will I be Sore following a Chiropractic Adjustment?

Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to that associated with starting a new exercise program. Drinking plenty of water, using an ice pack, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit can help ease any discomfort to promote healing.

How Long will my Visits Take?

This all depends on the length and severity of your condition, however, most first visits may last as much as 45 minutes. Follow-up visits are much less, often as little as 10-20 minutes.

How Often will I need to Return?

At the end of your first visit, your doctor will determine the best course of treatment for your specific needs. The frequency in which you receive chiropractic care is strictly up to the professional judgment of the Doctor of Chiropractic and will vary from individual to individual depending on your presenting condition and overall goals. Just as regular visits to the dentist are necessary for good dental hygiene, routine visits to a Doctor of Chiropractic are also important for proper spinal function and health maintenance.

Our chiropractors treat patients by delivering a chiropractic adjustment. If, during the course of your exam, the doctor feels that care is contraindicated, you will be referred to the appropriate healthcare provider and/or facility.
